Got Hold?

Got Hold?

Isaiah 41:13

For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

Sometimes God just reveals the simple principles to his people. Can you envision God taking hold of your right hand? Imagine that you are busy trying to run your own life in your own strength and you are failing miserably. Then all of a sudden you ask for help, and God comes along side you and with his weak hand…he takes hold of your strong hand. He still has at his disposal his Strong Right Arm, In Psalms 89:13 we read: “Your arm is endowed with power; your hand is strong, your right hand exalted“(NIV).

Anytime I try to manage the difficulties in my life, I find that I make a mess of it. God gave me a strong right hand, for gripping his, not doing my life apart from Him. Imagine if we reserved our strength to lean in to God, and used our left hand to handle the things of this world and used the strength of our right hand to grip the hand of the Almighty, The Creator of this whole planet and all that is in/on it. Imagine that you are taking the hand of the One who set the stars in the sky with a word.

Handedness in the world is directed by hemispheres of your brain. So if you are right handed you are left brained, if you are left handed you operate more right brained. God says, he will uphold you by his strong right arm, therefore fighting for you with all he has. He says he’ll take hold of your right hand and says, “Do not fear: I will help you” (Isaiah 41:14 NIV). Whether you are left or right handed, the hand he holds you up with will be his left, and he will fight on your behalf with his Right, for it is mighty, it is precise, it is the hand that carved out the Grand Canyon, the one that sculpted the Swiss Alps, the one that designed the eye, the brain and the fetus.

Yes, we will have trouble in this world (John 16:33, NIV) “In this world you will have Tribulation, but be of good Cheer”, Jesus said, “For, I have overcome the world”.  Yes, you will sin, God has made provision for this as well, knowing us; “if we confess our sins, he is faithful to forgive our sins and cleans us from all righteousness” (I John 1:9).  Others in our world will at times try our patience; imagine if that happened we gripped the hand of God, would our response to them be different. Would we respond to them as we are reminded by Paul to do in his letter to the Philippians 2: 5-8 “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindsets as Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!”(NIV).  Or culture values celeb status, in God’s economy we are to be humble and to lean into God’s strength, to value one another and be willing to die to selfish desires in deference to our brothers and sisters in Christ. When you are encountering troubles, trials of various kinds, take hold of the hand of God, with your Right hand and let the weakness that is found in your left hand reach around and lean into the Father, and you will find peace, strength, power and salvation, because, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 (NIV).
